What Can You Get With Vision Insurance

So, you've decided that you want to get vision insurance, but you don't know what you can use it on. When push comes to shove, there a lot of things that could happen to your eye. The optical muscles could get weaker causing a cross eye. A little surgery could repair that; however, vision insurance won't pay for that. First and foremost, know that vision insurance doesn't cover surgeries. That's health insurance. Vision insurance covers most other eye things, but surgeries are covered primarily by the health insurance provider that you have. Any costs that come from the surgery, such as glasses, come from eye insurance.

Now that we know what we don't get, what you do get are quite a few things. Every year, it is suggested that you go to the eye doctor. Eye insurance will cover your visit (after your co-pay, of course) which will include dilation. This is important so doctors can see your optical nerve, so it definitely is nice to know that you can get a dilation and have it covered by the eye insurance.

Insurance will cover your eye glasses frames and the lenses. Typically, though, they won't support you purchasing five hundred dollar frames; however, they will help cover some of the cost which is nice if you do want an expensive pair of glasses. But, they will cover all the lenses which can be an expensive task. On topic with lenses, they'll cover the cost of contacts. It is advised that you don't wear the same contacts forever, so these can get a bit costly. By having insurance to cover it for you, you need not worry about it.

Finally, there is one procedure that they will help to pay for. It won't be for free like glasses or contacts; however, it'll give you a discounted price which will make it a lot more affordable. LASIK and PRK procedures will be offered for discount. If your cornea has an issue, they can go in and with a laser, fix the problem. This can be expensive, but with vision insurance, you can get this for discount and walk away being able to see and not being so blind.

Vision insurance is a great thing. Knowing what you can get from it is incredibly important and something that you really should take advantage of. If you spend time looking at a computer or have vision problems in your family, get the insurance. It'll pay off in the future.
